Our client is an independent transmission company with world leading experience and capability in grid connection for the offshore renewable energy sector.
This is an important new post managing the development of the grid connection of a large UK offshore wind farm for a major offshore wind farm development client prior to the appointment of an Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO). This senior position will be an active member of the management team, and will have strong reporting responsibilities to the client.
Detailed accountabilities will include:
?Selecting and managing appropriate technical and environmental consultants
?Managing FEED of grid connection alternatives
?Proposing and obtaining approval for the consenting and land-right acquisition envelope to be progressed
?Advising the client on the strategy for and content of grid connection applications, and assisting the client in negotiation of grid connection agreements with GBSO
?Managing the environmental scoping and EIA processes for the grid connection as part of the offshore wind farm project as a whole
?Participating in stakeholder consultation in partnership with the client
?Managing the process of land-right acquisition, including managing specialist land agents
?Liaison with appointed planning and property lawyers as required
?Managing the specification, procurement and performance of site investigations (including sea-bed survey) required to provide ground condition data
?Advising the client on issues relating to attractiveness of assets as an OFTO investment (including bankability issues)
?Advising the client on data requirements for the OFTO tender process
?Advising the client on suitable performance targets for the appointed OFTO
?Making recommendations to and obtaining decisions from the client
?Regular and exception reporting to client
?Ensuring that specialist consultants keep to budget and submit reasonable budget estimates
The successful candidate would ideally have:
?Strong numerical ability and be of graduate calibre
?Extensive technical and commercial experience, ideally in the UK electricity supply industry, including:
- Grid system planning and technology
- Infrastructure permitting and land-right acquisition
- Infrastructure construction methods and risks
- Offshore electricity transmission
?Knowledge of the requirements of project finance
?Entrepreneurial development mentality with a strong customer focus
?Comfortable presenting at senior management and Board level
?Excellent organisation, management, written and oral communication skills
?Fluency in English and a full driving licence.
