Location - London, Midlands or Edinburgh
Our client is an independent transmission company with world leading experience and capability in grid connection for the offshore renewable energy sector.
This is an important new post assisting on the development of the grid connection of a large UK offshore wind farm for a major offshore wind farm development client prior to the appointment of an Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO). This position will work closely with a Senior Development Manager and will provide a unique learning opportunity.
Detailed accountabilities will include:
?Liaising with technical and environmental consultants and evaluating their findings and proposals
?Developing grid connection alternatives
?Devising the consenting and land-right acquisition envelope to be progressed
?Assisting on the process of environmental scoping and EIA process for the grid connection as part of the offshore wind farm project as a whole
?Participating in stakeholder consultation in partnership with the client
?Assisting in the process of land right acquisition, including managing specialist land agents
?Liaison with appointed planning and property lawyers as required
?With specialist technical consultants, devising specifications for site investigations (including sea-bed survey), assisting in the tender notification, review and negotiation process
?Assisting the client on data requirements for the OFTO tender process
?Preparing recommendations for decisions to be made by the client
?Regular and exception reporting to client
?Monitoring expenditure against budgets of specialist consultants and devising budget estimates going forward
The successful candidate would ideally have:
?Strong numerical ability and be of graduate calibre
?Technical and commercial experience, ideally in the UK electricity supply industry, including experience of:
- Grid system planning and technology
- Infrastructure permitting and land-right acquisition
- Infrastructure construction methods and risks
- Offshore electricity transmission
?Ability to use GIS packages (such as ArcView)
?Entrepreneurial development mentality with a strong customer focus
?Excellent organisational, management, written and oral communication skills
?Fluency in English and a full driving licence.
