Safety Case Author
Our client is an independent consultancy providing consulting services to the nuclear, defence, oil and gas and transportation sectors. They have distinct expertise in authoring safety cases and also extensive experience in conducting the many specialist studies required to support the production, development and maintenance of safety cases. Due to significant demand in this area they are seeking to strengthen their team of Safety Case Specialist Authors to be located in one of a number of sites in the west of the UK.
Candidates must have experience of preparing and authoring safety cases, hazard identification and assessment techniques, report-writing for regulators and industry stakeholders. Current security clearance is required (SC or DV level) due to the nature of the projects.
The production of the final safety case report will, depending on the sector, include some or all of:-
?Undertaking Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments Quantitatively and Qualitatively
?Chairing and participating in hazard identification exercises and HAZOP studies.
?Probabilistic and Deterministic Safety Assessment
?Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Event Tree Analysis (ETA)
?Radiological Consequence Assessments
?Blast and Explosion Modelling
?Dispersion Studies
?ALARP Justifications
?Human Factors
?Ensuring that conventional health & safety and environmental protection requirements are assessed and embodied in the report.
?Producing consequence assessments
?Internal and External Hazards Assessment
Qualifications and Experience
?Understanding of the risks and hazards associated within the sector.
?Significant experience in one or more of the nuclear, defence, oil and gas and transportation industries
?Engineering or Science Degree preferred.
?Chartered Engineer or Scientist
and ideally:
?Post graduate qualification in safety and environmental risk management
?Experience of working in a contracting organisation or consultancy.
