Job Title: Technical Operations Manager
Location: Salt Lake City, UT.
Duration: Fulltime (Permanent)

Will interview/hire starting ASAP
H1’s OK (3+ years remaining on their visa)
OOS candidates OK if interested in Utah ($5k after taxes for RELO)
Open on salary within reason – will give a slight increase over where the candidate is now, but will verify
NOTE – This can be a very senior person, with commesurate salary

NOTE – First 3-4 weeks may be spent in New York for training

REQUIRED
7+ years of IT industry experience (including strong hands-on technical experience)
Evidence of system ownership and responsibilities described in the Role and Responsibilities section.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Experience in distributed systems architecture
Knowledge of C++, Java and relational database technologies ***NOTE – this is NOT a development role
Team leadership experience

RESPONSIBILITIES
As the scale and complexity of the Derivatives Settlements group increases, we are looking to create a Technical Operations Manager role for Derivatives Settlements Technology group. The individual will focus on system resiliency/availability and manage infrastructure and enhancement projects. Typical responsibilities and functions performed
by a Technical Operations Manager within Goldman Sachs are as follows:
Management of a dedicated global support team responsible for production monitoring and user support
Point of contact for system health for senior business and technology management in the organization
Responsibility for the adoption of procedures and implementation of system tools.
Mentoring and training team members in support and development best practices.
Hands-on involvement in critical production issues
Ownership of environments
Driver of availability, capacity and resiliency initiatives.
Proactive input to improve system and team efficiency.
Prioritization and planning of system enhancements.
Partner with an existing “TechOps” community of Managers to follow standards
Management of infrastructure and application risk.
Disaster recovery management.
Managing the impact of market and industry events
Work with Managers & Tech Architects within the Derivatives Technology group
Investigate cross-team opportunities to improve procedures and efficiencies.

DEVELOPMENT PROSPECTS
The candidate will have opportunity to learn key aspects of the firm’s trading business and gain a detailed understanding of the Derivatives products & the systems supports the processing & settlement functions of Goldman Sachs. The role will also provide exposure to many Goldman Sachs systems and new technologies and through the TechOps management community, provide the opportunity to influence change across the organization.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a very motivated and bright individual, who must be able to work both independently and as part of a team. The candidate should have strong communication skills. He or she should feel comfortable working with a group that both welcomes and challenges new ideas.

PREFFERD
Prior experience with an investment bank.
Knowledge of Settlement and/or Derivative products.
