Job Title: Senior Application Developer
Location: Bensenville, IL (northwest suburb of Chicago)
Duration: Fulltime (Permanent)

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
• Designs, develops, tests, debugs, maintains and documents SOA solutions including SOAP based web services using the Oracle Service Bus, Java and other key technologies.
• Coach / mentor other team members as appropriate to facilitate their professional development.
• Establish working relationships with business partners and application development project team members.
• Demonstrates/applies knowledge of application modeling, design and development.
• Perform a development lead role on projects as needed.
• Develops time estimates for project deliverables.
• Provides alternative solutions and technical expertise across a range of applications, systems and/or technologies.
• Collaborates with end users and project team members on development of requirements and design of applications.
• Advise manager of risks, issues, and concerns.
• Understand and execute release management and change management processes for changes to business applications.
• Adhere to design and development standards and best practices, and assist in keeping these aligned with current industry trends.
• Performing and participating in peer design and code reviews.
• Identify, troubleshoot and resolve production issues as needed.
• Lead our continuous process improvement activities and initiatives.
• Staying abreast of new technologies, current issues, trends and tools affecting application development within the SOA space.
• Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new ideas or tools for improved approaches to business problems.
• Proactively promote performance enhancements and skill development of junior staff.
• Assist in defining staffing plans and recruiting to achieve goals.

Minimum Experience and Educational Requirements:
• 7+ years of development experience with at least two years of experience as a technical lead.
• 6+ years of Java/J2EE/JEE application development
• Web Services development.
• Oracle Service Bus (OSB) or BEA AquaLogic Service Bus (ALSB).
• SQL and Oracle database experience.
• Experience using XML, XQuery, Xpath, WSDL.
• Expertise in SOA, ESB and object-oriented concepts.
• Experience aligning to SOA standards, best practices and design patterns.
• 5+ years experience within an SDLC, developing in a Unix environment, and working on projects involving other teams.

• Must effectively prioritize own work, and the work of their project team.
• Able to coach / mentor other team members to facilitate their professional development.

Education:
• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related degree or equivalent knowledge and experience.
